Release Date: Sep 12, 2006 Genre: Real Time Strategy Theme: World War II Rating: M for Mature Game Modes: Single player, multiplayer It was a tough decision for my number one real time strategy game, both are unmatched in their own ways. Even after four years since it's release Company of Heroes, still looks fantastic. The game contains an engaging and challenging single player campaign and multipalyer skirmishes. Relic Entertainment has give the game new life with Company of Heroes Online which is a free to play full version the multiplayer game. There are also two stand alone expansions for Company of Heroes, Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor, that add new units and factions. Screenshots | Demo

World In Conflict

However in World in Conflict, the Soviet Union does not fall and the world spirals into conflict. The game contains three game modes; a single player campaign, skirmish mode and multiplayer mode. Players can choose from one of two factions in the single player campaign (USA or NATO), while multiplayer allows for play as USA, NATO or the Soviet Union.

7. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
Release Date: Jul 3, 2002 Theme: Fantasy Rating: T for Teen Game Modes: Single player, multiplayer Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos was a classic from the first day of it's release, back in 2002, which also makes it the oldest game on my list. The success of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos put the World of Warcraft wheels in motion which along with the internet has transformed computer games. While Warcraft III is a far cry from the graphics/gameplay of WoW, it still has plenty of life left. The Warcraft III Battle Chest includes both the full game and expansions. There's also the Dota custom campaign that has been so successful that Dota 2 will be released as a stand alone game in 2011. More Info | Screenshots | Demo

Age of Empires III
Release Date: Oct 18, 2005 Theme: Historical Rating: T for Teen Game Modes: Single player, multiplayer The oldest game on my list at a little over five years old, Age of Empires III is starting to look a little dated, but that doesn't mean that the game play and significance of the game and series is and if you hope into an online game you'll still see plenty of people looking for a match. In Age of Empires III, you control one of eight European colonial powers fighting for a foothold in the New World. Watch for the new Age of Empires Online coming in 2011. The game begins with a single Armored Command Unit which players use to build up their base and units. The single player campaign contains 6 missions for each of the three factions that are part of the game. There's also a multiplayer mode in which you can compete against others online in skirmish matches with up to eight players. Screenshots | Demo
